I’m grossed out by the kind of stuff tumblr does to its users over an extended period of time
Grammar and punctuation is completely lost on some people, to the point where their posts are unreadable and irritating
And tumblr fosters and feeds this incredible narcissism and need to impress people- people who don’t really matter in the grand scheme of things.
Actually, the form of grammar and punctuation used on Tumblr or any other outlet is completely valid. There is an entire culture that exists on Tumblr that is practiced by millions of users. In descriptive linguistics, when one utters a sentence and it is understood by at least one other person - even if it’s just one - it is grammatical. If a complete thought or idea is conveyed and fully comprehended between at least two parties, no matter how many periods or commas it is missing or wheTHER ITS TYPED LIKE DIS, it’s fucking grammatical, and it is not any less intelligent or intelligible than if it was written in the only way your AP American Lit teacher would allow, which is called prescriptive linguistics and is for grammar nazi twats with sticks up their asses who don’t realize that language is alive and it changes and it transforms.
I’m sorry, I have excellent English and my grammar and punctuation are impeccable, but I CAN BLOG AND SPELL LYKE DIS TOO AND IF DIS IS “UNREADABLE AND IRRITATING” TO YOU THEN you’re an imbecile and that sounds like a personal fucking problem.
As for this “narcissism” you speak of, that shit has been around even long before Tumblr, yo. And who are you to tell who does and who doesn’t matter in others’ grand schemes of things? If they thrive off of the approval of their peers, if they’re getting attention and encouragement and praise from other Tumblr users that they perhaps don’t get in “real life,” then let them have their moment and let them fucking be.
By the way, you’re missing two periods in your first two sentences, and “grammar and punctuation” are two different things, so they “[are] completely lost on some people,” not “is”.

is this beautiful solidarity too much for you, anon?
(also, i feel bad for you.)
this anon is proof that we need to eliminate anti-blackness from our leftist/solidarity circles.
Oh, my goodness. This is giving me chills. I’m actually CRYING.
Oh. My. God.

We’re not people really. Our concerns are not America’s concerns. We are just here for entertainment. We’re a convenient treasure trove of limitless creativity to be pillaged, watered down, and re-purposed for White audiences and the people getting rich from bastardized stereotypes and simplified caricatures of everything we bring to the table have nothing to say when shit gets really real.

and it’s not just white people
anti-blackness is embedded in this society so deeply that poc are also influenced and it’s so bad that even some black people themselves are so ready to throw their brothers and sisters under the bus for a nod of white approval

it actually is illegal. officers are required to wear their name tags for accountability purposes.
if a cashier can be penalized for being on the clock without a name tag, so can an officer. the biggest fucked up part about it is that you can’t even report it to their superiors because their superiors probably told them to remove their tags.
They are doing everything, everything, that they are not supposed to do. Purposefully breaking the very law they’re supposed to be upholding.
And the peacefully protesting citizens of Ferguson are being portrayed as the criminals, right? While they import outside agitators into Ferguson and call the lawful people of Ferguson animals, right?

you may tire of me as our december sun is setting
'cause i'm not who i used to be
no longer easy on the eyes
but these wrinkles masterfully disguise the youthful boy below
who turned your way and saw something he was not looking for
both a beginning and an end

One time during my freshmen year of college I forgot to do a history paper that was worth 20% of my grade and the teacher didn’t accept late work, so I waited until the professor handed back the papers and angrily asked where mine was. The teacher felt so bad for losing it he let me re-do the entire paper and gave me an A-
I’ve done this plenty of times. LOL.

“My philosophy is: It’s none of my business what people say of me and think of me. I am what I am, and I do what I do. I expect nothing, and accept everything. And it makes life so much easier.”
